McCain falsely accused Obama of not visiting the troops in Germany because of press restrictions. McCain’s latest ad made an even more outlandish claim, quote; “John McCain is always there for our troops.” As Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid noted in mid 2007: McCain only showed up for 4 of the past 14 Senate votes on Iraq. So far this year he has shown up for none, not even the resolution honoring the sacrifice made by the fallen.
Here is just a portion of McCain’s record of not supporting the troops since the war in Iraq began.
April 2003 – He tabled a motion to provide over a billion dollars to the National Guard and Reserve equipment.
October 2003 – He tabled an amendment for $322 million for safety equipment for US troops in Iraq.
March 2004 – He voted against eliminating abuse of tax loopholes that would have increased veteran’s medical care by $1.8 billion.
March 2006 – He voted against closing corporate tax loopholes that would have increased veteran’s medical services by $1.5 billion.
April 2006 – He voted against providing an extra $430 million for veteran outpatient care.
May 2006 – He voted against $20 million for veteran’s healthcare facilities
March 2007 – He didn’t bother to vote on a resolution to start redeploying troops from Iraq by March 2008.
September 2007 – He voted against Senator Webb’s amendment that would specify minimum rest periods for troops in between deployments.
May 2008 – He first spoke out against Senator Webb’s GI Bill and then didn’t bother to show to vote on it. But that didn’t stop him for accepting President Bush’s praise when the bill ultimately passed.
This is not the voting record of a man that supports the troops. And as a veteran and former POW, you would think McCain would know better. Shame on you Mr. McCain for your not supporting our troops.

McCain Promises a Continuation of the Bush Presidency.
Let’s take a moment here, under the Republicans and their minions we have gas prices over $4.00 gallon, oil executives getting rich while the middle class gets screwed, invaded a country for it’s oil, ignored International Law and the Geneva Conventions, torture, Gitmo, 200,000 homeless veterans, veterans being sent back to Iraq and Afghanistan after being diagnosed with PTSD and other emotional and mental problems, HumVees without proper armor, Walter Reed, and this is from the party that claims it is the flag waving, troop supporting, patriotic party. Spied on Americans and tapped their phones and read their emails, but that is okay because Congress said it was. Lied to Congress about the reasons for going to war, didn’t catch Bin Laden and allowed Al Qaeda to regroup and get stronger because they were busy destroying a country, they killed 4000 Americans and injured 30,000, 100,000 Iraqi’s killed and millions displaced but don’t complain because then you are unpatriotic, KBR electrocuting the troops through shoddy construction, Constitution destroyed, Pakistan is a rogue state with WMDs and yet we invade another country on just the rumor it has WMDs. Outing a CIA agent just because they can. Cheney. Rove. Politicized the military and the Justice Dept. and filled it with inept, crooked, lawyers that got their degrees from Pat Robertson University. Blackwater. Halliburton. Destroyed a country, tanked the economy, houses prices plummeting, foreclosures skyrocketing, banks failing, bailout of Bear Stearns, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Devalued dollar, largest deficit in history, loss of respect in the world, we are making more terrorists than we can kill, more terrorism, the country less safe now than it was prior to 9/11, FEMAs response to Katrina, FEMA trailers, Bush having a birthday party while New Orleans drowns, 9/11, Jack Abramoff, Tom DeLay, Randy Cunningham, Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Ted Stevens, Cheney shot a guy, hookers, selling access to high level White House officials to the highest bidder, ignoring subpoenas and giving the finger to Congress.
So anyone that is undecided, or planning to vote for McCain, the third Bush term, I would implore you to ask yourself two questions: Are you better off now than you were 7 ½ years ago? And, are you proud of the actions of our government over the past 7 ½ years? If you look at these two questions objectively, the choice for president is obvious.

McCain Would Destroy This Country to Win a War
Last week John McCain said of Barack Obama: "Obama would lose a war to win an election." First of all setting aside for a moment that since there is no definition of a "win," there can't be any definition of a "loss." This is a baseless, unfounded statement that impugns Barack Obama's integrity and patriotism.
McCain is advocating an extension of Bush's policies, that includes continuing the war in Iraq indefinitely, for up to 100 years he said. Those very same policies have directly led to the economic mess that we are in now. Continuing these policies can only lead to the continuing devaluation of the dollar, and the ballooning of the deficit. which in turn is going to dig us into a deeper hole than we are in now.
We need a president that will get us out of this very expensive war, (a trillion dollar war by most estimates), and get us off of this fossil fuel dependency. McCain's position? To drill and provide Americans a "gas tax holiday," both of which, even McCain admits, won't provide any immediate relief other than "psychological." Most economists say that even if we started drilling tomorrow, we wouldn't see any lowering of the price at the pump until around 2030, if even then. As far as the gas tax holiday goes, that tax is what pays for the infrastructure in this country. Suspending the gas tax would actually cause 200,000 people to lose their construction jobs. These are people that make their living off of fixing our roads, that are going to hell even with the gas tax. We need more money going to our infrastructure, not less. And to show how out of touch McCain is, this morning on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, when he was asked how he could make sure that the oil companies would pass the savings on, (an event that most economists say very well might not happen), his first answer was to say, "we would shame them into it." WTF? If the oil companies aren't shamed now when they are making record profits while the average consumer is suffering profoundly from the high price of gas, I seriously they won't be ashamed of taking the tax and keeping it for themselves.
Meanwhile, Obama has proposed spending $150 billion over the next ten years in renewable energy. Most of this money would come from a windfall profits tax on the oil companies. These are the same companies that make $20 - $30 billion per quarter and yet they have to audacity to say that these profits are not out of line. Tell that to the average American who is now having to choose between basic necessities to afford to go to work. Do I buy food or gas? Do I pay my insurance premiums, (if they even have insurance, which is a post for a later date), or do I buy food, or gas? Obama is also against the gas tax holiday and more drilling. As T. Boone Pickens says, " this is one crisis that we can't drill our way out of."
So the truer statement here would be, "McCain would destroy this country to win an election"

Two Choices This Election Year
You now have TWO choices for president:
The first one has one of the longest lines of political experience in history. He is exceedingly popular in congress. He was a soldier who volunteered to defend the United States in the Navy.
The second one has no real political experience outside of Illinois. He is tall and lanky with big ears. He even lost a few of his first attempts at gaining political office. He is an excellent speechwriter and orator. He is a good attorney and has a successful law practice.
So which one would you choose?
This is a trick question because both were already Presidents of the United States. The first one is the 15th President of the United States, James Buchannan. He is the President who mired us in the Civil War by declaring the action illegal but doing nothing when the south decided to seceed from the Union. He is largely considered by historians as being the worst President in American history.
He was followed by the other man who became the 16th President of the United States: Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln is credited with the end of slavery, the end of the Civil War, and unification of the nation. He became president at a dark time when our country was deeply divided over very polarizing issues. He had no experience in Washington prior to his Presidency. He is widely considered by historians as one of the best Presidents in American History.
Sound familiar?
(Author Unknown)
We are facing the same two choices this election year, Barack Obama and John McCain. It is up to the electorate to decide which direction they want this country to take for the next four years. Obama is promising change, while McCain is offering us four more years of the failed Bush policies. The same policies that have led to over 4000 American deaths and an untold amount of civilian deaths in Iraq. Policies that have led to over $4.00 a gallon gas, while the oil companies are recording record profits. Policies that have led to record food prices, record mortgage foreclosures and a wider divide between the rich and the poor.
The fact is that America cannot afford a John McCain presidency.
