Our Economy

Can GW fix our economy?

Well, lets look at some facts: When he was appointed president in 2000, the Federal Treasury was operating with a surplus, (thanks to Clinton). We are now in debt to the tune of $9,000,000,000,000, that is nine trillion dollars. Now lets do the math. He has been in office for 6 years now. That means that he has spent 2.46 billion dollars per day more than the treasury has taken in. Just as the Iraq War will be our grand children's war, this huge debt will be our great great grand children's debt.

Okay, now that you know where we are as far as the debt goes, let's take a look at GW's history with money:

1. He bought an oil company in Midland, Texas in 1975 but he couldn't find any oil in Texas and the company went bankrupt shortly after he sold all his stock. And that was just one of the companies that he bankrupted.

2. He cut taxes as Governor of Texas and effectively bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of several billion dollars, (sound familiar?).

3. He shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.

4. On his watch, he set the record for the most private bankruptcies in U.S. history.

5. Also on his watch, he set the record for the bigget drop in the history of the U.S. stock market.

6. Since taking office this country has had the highest gasoline prices ever.

And if that is not enough, according to the leading economists, we are now heading into a recession. His domestic policies have virtually bankrupted our country and now he is going to bankrupt its citizens as well. Back to the original question: Can GW fix our economy? Not even if he were in office for the rest of this century could he fix the economy.

I Am A Person Without A Home

This is a poem that I wrote while I was living under a freeway overpass. I think that it catches the essence of being homeless.

I am a person without a home,
Living under a bridge, just like a gnome.
Mostly I am just ignored,
Unless the police become too bored.
Then it’s as if I have no rights,
Being kicked awake in the middle of the night.
Made to move my harmless camp,
Walking the streets in the cold and damp.
Always trying to keep out of sight,
Hugging the shadows, avoiding the light.
As I walk the streets alone,
I am a person without a home.
